LP 944-20 is also known as BRI 0337-3535 and 2MASS J03393521-3525440. Brown Dwarf star with spectral class T3V originally thought to be a dim M9 Red Dwarf when detected by the Luyten Palomar survey in the 1975. It was not observed again until it was rediscovered in 1990. It was found to be a Brown Dwarf in 1998. It was unexpectedly found to flare in 1999, which was thought impossible for a Brown Dwarf. Changes in surface chemistry suggest weather patterns similar to Jupiter, including high lithium content and clouds. It appears to be a member of the Castor moving group.
